What is a Seiko Mod

A custom watch built on one of the world's most reliable movements

A Seiko mod is a custom-built watch that uses a Seiko movement — typically the NH35 — as its foundation. The case, dial, hands, crystal and bracelet are replaced with aftermarket parts inspired by the most iconic watch designs in the world.

The result is a watch that looks like it costs ten times the price — because the design language comes from watches that do. But the movement inside is a proven, serviceable automatic calibre that will last decades with proper care.

At HourHand, every Seiko mod is hand-assembled in Sweden. Each piece is built to order, quality checked, and shipped directly to you.

The Collections

Eight designs. One standard.

Every HourHand collection is inspired by a legendary watch design — built around premium movements, sapphire crystal and 316L stainless steel as standard.

The Movements

What's inside matters

Every HourHand Seiko mod is built around a proven movement. No mystery calibres — here's exactly what powers each collection.

NH35
Automatic · 24 Jewels

The workhorse of the collection. 21,600 bph, 41-hour power reserve, hacking and hand-winding. Powers the Seikojust, Nautiko, Santeiko, Royal Seikoak, Seikdweller and Seikonaut.

NH34
Automatic GMT · 24 Jewels

A true GMT movement with an independently adjustable GMT hand. Tracks a second time zone without stopping the seconds. Powers the GMTeiko.

NH38
Automatic · 24 Jewels

Same base as the NH35 but without a date complication — ideal for open heart dials where the movement is part of the design. Powers the Nautiko Open Heart.

8285
Miyota · Automatic

Miyota's reliable automatic movement with day and date display. Powers the Seikodate Day-Date collection with presidential bracelet.

VK63
Hybrid · Meca-Quartz

A meca-quartz hybrid with a mechanical chronograph module on a quartz base. Instant-reset chronograph, accurate to ±15 sec/month. Powers the Seitona and Royal Seikoak Chrono.

FAQ

Common questions

What is a Seiko mod watch?

A Seiko mod is a custom watch built using a Seiko movement as the base. The case, dial, hands, crystal and bracelet are replaced with aftermarket parts to create a watch inspired by iconic luxury designs — at a fraction of the cost.

Are Seiko mod watches legal to buy?

Yes. Seiko mods are legal to purchase and own. They are aftermarket custom watches — not counterfeits. HourHand watches do not use any official brand names, logos or trademarks on the watches themselves.

How accurate is an NH35 movement?

The Seiko NH35 is rated at ±10-15 seconds per day — typical for an automatic movement at this price point. With regular wear and proper positioning, most run closer to ±5 seconds per day.

Can I get a Seiko mod serviced?

Yes. The NH35, NH34, NH38 and Miyota 8285 are all widely serviced movements. Any watchmaker familiar with Seiko or Miyota movements can service your HourHand watch.

Where are HourHand watches shipped from?

All HourHand watches are shipped from Sweden. Free shipping is included on all orders.

What's the difference between Seikojust and Seikodate?

The Seikojust is inspired by the Datejust design — showing the date only, powered by the NH35. The Seikodate shows both the date and the day of the week, powered by the Miyota 8285 with a presidential bracelet.
